Pietro Costa

Pietro Costa’s works with neon, glass, and his own blood have appeared in a number of galleries and museums in the U.S., including New York Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Hudson River Museum, David Beitzel Gallery, The Penine Hart Gallery, and The Sculpture Center. In Italy, he has shown at Il Ponte in Rome and at Piano Nobile in Perugia. In addition to numerous private collections in the U.S. and Italy, the permanent collection of the Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York also houses one of his works. Costa has collaborated with well-known artists Richard Serra, Dan Flavin, and Mario Merz. Costa’s upcoming publications include Blood Works, a limited edition artist’s book in collaboration with Denver Butson (Luquer Street Press, 2004), for which the artists received 2003 New York Foundation for the Arts Individual Artists Fellowships. His site-specific sculptural installation, Conflicts and Wars, was on view at The Katonah Museum of art in Katonah, New York from May to October 2003, and his neon installation grace was shown at Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula (Salerno, Italy) from August to November 2003. Costa lives today in Brooklyn, New York, where he has his studio.
